Welcome to the forum Christine I'm 40 years young! Bossed about by a 6year old, rounded up like a lost sheep by 2 cute cavaliers I've had ra since 2007......my most happiest time in my life, typical. Now I seek ways of adapting/tweaking things in order for me to do things, my walking stick handle is fantastic in reaching the top of supermarket shelves In two weeks time I'm off for a knee replacement, strangely I feel relaxed chilled and positive - laugh at myself! I'm on methtrixate for one more time before op (yay) sulf, hydro, thyroxine. How about you? Have you had ra for a while or newly diagnosed? Tell us about you. Hello again Christine Jane Xxx

Welcome Christine
Lovely to have you join us but sorry you have RA.
Hope you get lots of information and support from this site. It was the best thing I ever did when I was diagnosed three and half years ago. There have been many ups and downs but I always have the comfort of knowing I have somewhere to turn to so that I can ask a question or for just find a bit of moral support.
Hope to hear from you again soon.
Jackie xx

Hi Christine, and welcome to the forum. At 64 I'm an 'oldie' and was fortunate enough not to be diagnosed with RA until about 10 years ago. I was also lucky enough to work for the council so was granted ill-health retirement, as I couldn't function at all in those early days. Now I've simply adapted my life to fit round what I'm capable of, it's a different life to the one I had planned for retirement, but just as enjoyable.

Hi Christine,
I am new here too.
I'm 39, have RA that goes all over the place, and I try to make the best of things when I can.
I think I am learning to adapt.

Hi Christine, from me too! So glad you have joined, but wish you had not got the R.A. I am Fiona, diagnosed at 38 and now 55! When I first succumbed to R.A, it was, as a previous reply to your post said "all over the place", with me too. Now it is in fewer places and as yet, fingers crossed, no need for new joints. I have only had Hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for it and for that I am grateful. I too, as yet another reply said, live my life pretty much around the disease - just doing whatever I feel I can do on any particular day and not a lot on other days. Looking forward to your posts. Fiona

Hello Christine and welcome to the forum.
I was diagnosed with RA nearly five years ago. Started taking Enbrel last November and things at the moment are great. No RA symptoms at all.
You will find lots of support here from all the lovely members, plenty of advice and words of wisdom from people who understand what RA is.
Do post again.
Take Care
Paula x

Hi Christine - welcome from me too. I hope you come back and let us know how you are. We're very supportive here and everybody understands how it can be tough having RA. I don't get on as often as I used to because I've gone back to work 3 days a week plus I've recently started a course in counselling - life still goes on with RA, but it does change quite a bit. I look forward to reading your posts when you want to drop in. Very best wishes - Sylvia Be kinder than is necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
